THE ANCIENT GREAT QUEEN OF EGYPT

Some can call her “THE GREAT QUEEN” due to her ability in leadership, others can call her the most beautiful woman that had never be seen and perhaps there will be no woman of her kind and that is due to the beauty and attraction she had. But that’s not all, as some have a negative look upon her and call her an opportunist, greedy and even evil.

I believe you will be having a lot of questions on who is this woman that many people have their own way of defining her. This woman is Cleopatra, Egyptian Queen who took the thrown with her brother after their father kicked the bucket.

Many of the people define this woman due to the little story they have been told about her. Those who will stick to her beauty are those who heard a story about her beauty and those who call her a leader, it is because of the story they heard about her leadership. Today, I will discuss a little about this woman. Basing on her life story, mostly about her love and lovers and how it led to the fall of Egypt in the hands of Roman Empire. In this story I will also brief you about her family too.

Ptolemy Auletes died in 51BC. In his will he left the Kingdom to 18 year old daughter Cleopatra and her young brother Ptolemy XIII, 12 years old. Cleopatra had two older sister Cleopatra VI and Berenice IV but also had a young sister Arsinoe IV and two other younger brother Ptolemy XII and Ptolemy XIV.

Cleopatra became co-regent with her 10 year old brother Ptolemy XIII. The two were married, in keeping with the Egyptian tradition. Inspite of her beauty, she was highly intelligent woman and astute politician, who brought prosperity and peace to a country that was bankrupt and split by civil war.

In 48 BC, Egypt became embroiled in the conflict in Rome between Julius Caesar and Pompey. As Pompey flew to Egypt, he was murdered at Alexandria by the orders of Ptolemy. Due to the murder done under the orders of Ptolemy, forced Caesar to head to Egypt. There he met Cleopatra and become lovers.

Cleopatra who had been exiled by her brothers was reinstalled as Queen with Roman military support. Ptolemy was killed in the fighting and another brother was created Ptolemy XIII. In her relationship with Caesar she bore him a child, Caesarian. Though he did not acknowledge him as his son. She Caesar to Rome but returned back to her home Egypt after his assassination in the 44 BC.

Ptolemy died a mysterious death around the year of her return in Egypt, after his death she made her son, who she bore with Caesar a co-regent.
In 41 BC, Mark Antony went into conflict with Caesar adopted son, Octavian over the succession to the Roman leadership. When he head to Egypt he begun both political and romantic alliance with Cleopatra. In their relationship they successful bore 3 children, 2 sons and a daughter.

In 31 BC the two combined armies went to battle with Octavian in great sea battle at Actium, on the West coast of Greece. Octavian was victorious and led the two combined forces and their leaders flew back to Egypt.

After their return, Octavian hunted them to Egypt and captured them in Alexandria, 31BC. With his soldiers yielding away from him, Mark Antony decided to take his own life. After a while Cleopatra took the way like Mark, by committing suicide too, on 12th August 30 BC. After her death Egypt was made a province of Roman Empire.

We this brief history I believe you know something about this historical lady that is said to have been an Egypt Queen. That is all I have for you my reader about a beautiful lady who celebrated her beauty with War Lords Julius Caesar and Mark Antony.
